While many premier division teams took part in last season's NTFA Shield, this year saw all nine clubs return to full-strength competition.

With football season having finished up in September, The Examiner looks back at who each team's coach rated as their most improved player.
Bracknell - Kobi Latham and Samuel Goodluck
Corry Goodluck said: "For Kobi, it's just getting back to playing his best football with confidence.
"A lot of people said that he probably wouldn't play senior football and it's a credit to him that he's proved them all wrong.
"His directional talk behind the play [is outstanding] and he sets up most of our game plans and he's just inspirational, the way he plays and speaks, he's just a real leader.
"Sam had only played a handful of senior games in the COVID year so for a 17-year-old to come out and play football in the senior side [is brilliant].
"At the start of the year we weren't sure whether he would be in our best 22 at the end of the year but each week he got better and better and in the finals series, he was a great leader for us as a young kid."
South Launceston - Kurt Hibbs
Anthony Taylor said: "He's played all year in the seniors and where he's come from at the beginning of the year to where he ended, he showed a gradual improvement all year and has certainly turned into a goof key defender we can build a defence around in the future.
Longford - Sam Luttrell
Beau Thorp said: "This might surprise a few people but our most improved player is our ruckman, who was our second ruckman at the start of the year.
"In 2019 I think he played one senior game and this year he didn't miss one, competed really well in the ruck and from within the club he was a fantastic improver."
DIVISION ONE'S MOST IMPROVED: NTFA division one's biggest improvers for 2021 picked by coaches
Rocherlea - Brady Scott
Andrew Cox-Goodyer said: "His brother [Matthew] is usually our starting ruckman but he hurt his knee pretty bad in a pre-season practice match, so Brady really stood up this year and took the reins on and rucked a fair bit of our game time throughout."
Deloraine - Ashdyn Heathcoate
Lochy Dornauf said: "He came back from a stint up in Cairns but from the football that he left and the football that he came back with over the journey of this season has been absolutely remarkable.
"He averaged roughly 20 disposals, a couple of goals and some really key one-percenter indicators for our football club as well."
Bridgenorth - Oli Reid, Connor Griffiths, Wian Dekker
Phil Lethborg said: "Their consistency and their ability to impact the game a bit more and how they played their role [impressed me throughout the year].
Scottsdale - Brad Tuffin
Assistant coach Lochie Young said: "He's probably played his first year of [premier division] senior footy and to play as a medium-sized ruckman and play almost every game for us without much backup, he's been very great and consistent as well.
George Town - Austin Maynard, Sam Freeman and Joel Digney
Adam Zanevra said: "They are a few young guys who we threw in the deep end, they've been given some opportunities they wouldn't have got otherwise if we had some more experienced bodies around and they've flourished considering the circumstances.
Hillwood - Alex Blackaby, Jayden McHenry
Jake Pearce said: "All up we've had 23 players debut, which is huge for the footy club.
"Obviously if we are not winning games of footy our aim is to try and give kids the experience to play senior footy.
"Alex came from Launnie under-18s, he's not a massive build but the way he plays in the midfield against some quality opposition, he stands up really well and he's going to be one to watch in a couple of years time.
"Jaydo is a forward, a bit of a smaller body, he's got good skills, is unselfish, plays the team role really well and I think they are going to be two good players for us in a couple of years time."
