With football season having finished up in September, The Examiner looks back at who each team's coach rated as their most improved player.
Lilydale - Sam Lockett
Colin Lockhart says: "Sam has been a sensational move into the backline for us and he has proved his versatility."
Old Launcestonians - Alex Sciulli
Laine Cleaver says: "Alex is an ex-soccer player, he's been playing footy for the last couple of years now but obviously grew up playing soccer.
"Just this year in terms of his understanding of the game, he's played some different roles, on the wing but also of late, some shutdown roles on players which I'm really impressed with.
"His skills in general have improved, he used to kick across the body a little bit, obviously that's the natural soccer player in him, but he's just developing more as a footballer now."
East Coast - TBA
The Swans will announce their most improved player of the season at their awards dinner on October 2.
Old Scotch - Jackson Young
Brayley Coombes says: "Jacko's been around for at least four or five years at our footy club and we gave him the challenge of pinch hitting in the ruck, really working on his aggression and competitiveness.
"They are some attributes that he really progressed with this year and provided us with a good ruck-forward option."
St Pats - Liam Brown
Jake Lowe says: "He's been at the club for almost 10 years now, played a lot of reserves football at the start of his career and been in and out of seniors the last few years battling serious injuries.
"But he's played every game this year, finished really high in our best and fairest and basically got one of the best defenders every week."
Meander Valley - Kane Brugeaud and Aaron Saltmarsh
Damien Rhind says: "For Aaron, it's the extra training he does outside of our normal sessions and his intensity and commitment on the actual training track.
"Kane had a really good solid pre-season which has transferred into a really consistent year where he's improved week on week.
"I think with that improvement, it's built on his self confidence and led him to be quite a capable defender."
Bridport - Liam Arnold and Adam Krushka
Greg Latham says: "They've had to step up, initially because of injuries but they've done a really good job and significantly improved throughout the year.
"Liam in particular has been put into a role that he hasn't played too much before, he's played ruck for us and he's a little bit undersized, so his improvement was really good.
"It's the same for Adam, we've put him down back and he's played on some pretty decent players and done pretty well across the year."
Perth - Harry Moss
Danny Bennett says: "I've put him on some really good key forwards and he's stood up quite well for a young bloke that hadn't played senior footy before this year."
Evandale - Kaden Lewis and Aaron Rush
Sam Bouwman says: "Kaden's just been super impressive in the way that he's attacked every role that we've given him and he's had more responsibility every week.
"Aaron started off with a couple of games in the ones and had to go back into the twos for a bit and just the way he's developed his game has been sensational."
UTAS - Jack Mclaren
Brodie Tiernan says: "He's similar to Jake [Thompson] last year, from Queensland with a rugby background and he probably had no idea about footy and was a bit lost to start with but especially in his last three or four games he was quite good.
"He was very good defensively with tackling and then got his kicking and positioning better and that was having an impact on games."
