The girl was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition on Tuesday after running onto Cadbury Road and into oncoming traffic about 1pm.
An off-duty doctor was passing through the Claremont area and provided immediate assistance before paramedics arrived.
However, she died in hospital on Thursday evening.
On the day of the crash, Tasmania Police's senior sergeant Carl Pirelli said the girl was a passenger of a car that had broken down on the side of the road.
He said the father was repairing the car when she ran onto the road and was hit by a car driven by a woman in her 40s.
Early investigations have advised there is nothing to suggest that alcohol or drugs were involved and speed was not a factor in the crash.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
