Emergency services responded to a report of a house fire on Rosetta Place about 4am on Thursday.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said initial investigations indicated the fire appeared to have been deliberately lit, which caused "significant structural damage".
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The spokesperson said anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire at Ravenswood this morning.
Emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Rosetta Place about 4am on Thursday.
It comes only three days after firefighters saved a home from devastating damage on Warring Street.

A Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson said it appeared the most recent fire started in the rear of the property and was "well alight" by the time crews arrived.
Firefighters were notified by neighbours of the property.
The extent of the damage is unknown at this stage, but the spokesperson confirmed the home was vacant at the time of the blaze.
