Pouring rain and wild winds did not stop the participants in the 2021 MS Walk Run + Roll from lacing up their sneakers and pounding the pavement to raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis.

Dr Anna Chilcott lives with MS and decided to take part in the event to help others with the same disease. She raised nearly $19,000.
"[The run] was hard work pretty much immediately ... it was raining and it was very windy, the wind was blowing right into our faces," she said.
"I'm very happy that I finished it and I did manage to run the whole lot which was my goal."
Dr Chilcott said she was overwhelmed by the amount of support she had seen in donations from friends, family, colleagues, and others in the community.
"[The event] is such a fantastic cause and provides such an incredibly valuable service to people with MS all over Australia," she said.
Dr Chilcott's husband, Pat Caplice, said he was immensely proud of what his wife had achieved.
"It's been quite a difficult time since she was diagnosed earlier this year and the decision she made to not withdraw into herself, but to expand out and see what positive input she could have for herself and for the entirety of the population who suffer from MS was fabulous," he said.
The event included a 4.5 kilometre and 9.5 kilometre track, with both walking and running options available. The 4.5 kilometre track was also able to be completed by those in wheelchairs or with prams.
MS ambassador Cristelle Denney said it was wonderful to see the community still attend the event regardless of the weather.
With 206 participants, 26 teams and just shy of $44,000 raised total, the event was a success.
