That was motto of the Women's Christian Temperance Union of Tasmania of which Jessie Spinks Rooke was president.

Mrs Rooke was a pioneer behind Tasmanian women gaining the right to vote in 1903.

Her final resting place is Wivenhoe Cemetery.

Human rights advocate Rodney Croome discovered Mrs Rooke's grave in deteriorating condition last September.

The restored grave was unveiled on Thursday, the 118th anniversary of the Tasmanian parliament passing legislating to allow women the right to vote.

City of Burnie Lions Club's Vicki Russell said the grave's restoration was a team effort between the Lions Club, grave restorer Henry Jones and Rodney Croome.

"There was unanimous agreement that this project would create a City of Burnie Lions Club legacy in the Burnie community," Dr Russell said.

Governor Barbara Baker unveiled the grave in front of about 50 people.

Sharing on Mrs Rooke's life, Ms Baker thanked those behind the project to acknowledge and celebrate the life of Mrs Rooke "a remarkable and outstanding woman".

"I hope that if she has not already been nominated, that she will be nominated for the Tasmanian honour role of women for her significant contribution at a state and national level with democratic reform," Ms Baker said.

"On behalf of women, thank you very much."

The Red Hat Chapter - Hatters To Go were in attendance. The chapter has a close connection with Mrs Rooke after making a paper sculpture of her in 2008.

Members Pam Thorne and Judith Lake said there had been a lot of research into Mrs Rooke, both her looks for the sculpture and accomplishments.

"It's all about being equal and visible and we're still not there yet," Mrs Thorn said.
