After two seasons of COVID madness, Launceston Tornadoes coach Sarah Veale is hoping for third time lucky.
With 2020's campaign cancelled due to COVID, Veale's Tornadoes were looking set for finals this season before the virus derailed things once again.
"I think we all believe that next year we will get a full season," she said.
"People will be vaccinated and there will be some changes in how we live with COVID, so third time lucky."
The Tornadoes were setting in fifth place with 10 wins and four losses when the season was called off a fortnight ago, with Veale saying the side felt like they could make the grand final.
"To take what we've done this year and take it into next year is the most exciting part of all of this.
"Like I said to the team at the end of it, we've set the standard for next year and we've certainly got the same goals to pursue so we will be chasing that championship.
"It's really exciting because this was the first year together for the whole team and we are obviously hoping to retain most of those players."
Looking back at the season, the continuing coach reflected and said that what they did worked throughout the year and the changes they made were needed.
She also thanked the club for their support throughout the season and said "the jigsaw is almost complete apart from that little trophy at the end".
Tornadoes chairperson Neil Grose is one of many pleased to see Sarah re-sign.
"The growth of the playing group since Sarah has been the Tornadoes coach has been nothing short of brilliant and the club is looking forward to a fantastic 2022 season as we build upon these strong foundations," he said.
"Sarah's dedication to the club and the incredible team culture that she has built is shown by her great results in 2021."
The side held their annual awards night earlier this week with Keely Froling taking out most valuable player from Mariah Payne.
Kelsey Griffin took out the Debbie Black award while the most improved and coaches' awards went to Micah Simpson and Lauren Wise.
