On Tuesday Adam Michael Hones, 31, appeared in the Burnie Magistrates Court charged with a large number of offences relating to the production of child exploitation material.

Defence lawyer Stephen Wright sought an adjournment without plea on the charges before the court.

Tasmania Police have alleged Mr Hones involved or attempted to involve 29 separate girls in the production of the child exploitation material.

He is charged with six counts of involving a person under 18-years-old in the production of child exploitation material, 23 counts of attempting to involve a person under 18 years in production of child exploitation material, five counts of possession of child exploitation material and two counts of possession of prohibited visual recording.

As it was Mr Hones' first appearance in the court he was entitled to an adjournment without plea, which Magistrate Tamara Jago granted.

Ms Jago released Mr Hones on bail and imposed a number of strict bail conditions.

She said Mr Hones must not contact any student at Marist Regional College student by any means, and he must not go within 50 metres of the school.

She also ordered he not use any form of social media and specifically indicated he must not use Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat.

She adjourned the matters to October 26 and ordered Mr Hones return to the court on that date.
