We can do this firstly by the Tasmanian government denying teams entry under pandemic rules. Secondly, Tasmanians must boycott the game as a sign of unity with Afghan women who have been murdered, raped and abused under the Taliban.

The cricket team that attends will not be a truly representative Afghanistan team, it is a Taliban propaganda team of misogynistic men who deny women the basic human right to play. All Australians need to be voicing their disapproval.

The federal government says it is not their responsibility to stop the match.

However, it is their responsibility to prevent the representatives of murderers and tyrants from entering this country.

Australian cricket players need to stand up and be counted, Australia is looking to you to lead with a clear message to the Taliban, refuse to play, take a sickie, do whatever is necessary.

Hobartians need to stand in front of the stadium and block the entrance, just like we did when Apartheid South African rugby team wanted to play in Sydney years ago. Just like then we as Australians can lead the way through sport to send a clear message to tyrannical regimes.

THE University of Tasmania's curious climate project is a wonderful initiative "Big climate questions answered" (The Examiner, September 11). As a schoolgirl in Launceston back in the 1990s, I remember being inspired by any connections with the university.

Linking students with experts seems a positive way to address a confronting topic like climate change.

Given that global warming will impact the lives of all our children, as a parent I find it concerning that teaching about climate change is not part of the Australian mandated curriculum.

Programs like the curious climate project that encourages open discussion can assist children to accept their feelings and start focusing on actions to address climate change. Thank you to all involved.

SADLY I missed out on receiving a travel voucher from the state government in both rounds of the scheme. Even sadder is the fact that many of those lucky enough to receive a voucher have still not used them, probably never were going to use them and never will.

This means that there are thousands of genuine requests that are missed out. With the vast number not used in the first and second round, the government should have a third round and ban those that records show did not use their voucher.
