1. Writers Festival
September 9-11
Word of Mouth is a three-day festival providing a taste-plate of events covering topics such as stories, scripts, books, comedy, and songwriting. The festival opened with a cocktail party and the world premiere of Marjorie Unravelled. Then it will deliver a mix of workshops - both at schools and otherwise - as well as comedy sessions, play readings, guest speaker appearances, and book clubs. 2. Workshop Space
September 11
A fluid painting for mental health workshop will be held at 11am at the Kings Meadows Scout Hall. A portion of the entry price will be donated to Headspace Launceston.
3. Women's 5k
September 12, registrations required
The 2021 Women's 5K Walk-Run, organised by Cancer Council Tasmania, is hoping to raise $90,000. This year the event is being held both in real-time and virtually. The event raises awareness of cancer, promotes exercise, and raises funds for cancer research and support. The Women's 5K real-time event will start at Launceston's City Park.
4. Street Eats
September 12
World Street Eats has undergone some changes since its last program of events. This year, the event will only be held once a month - on the second Sunday - and will also change its start time to 11am. The first of its food events will be held on September 12, in conjunction with the Women's 5K Walk-Run.
5. Public Lecture
September 12, 1.30pm
The Royal Society of Tasmania will host a lecture by associate professor Sebastien Meffre at the meeting room located at QVMAG, Inveresk. The lecture will discuss the geology of East and West Tasmania. Ticket prices to the event vary. For more visit rst.org.au.
6. Grand Final
September 12, 2.30pm
Launceston and North Launceston renew hostilities from last year's premiership decider in a State League grand final which could go either way at UTAS Stadium. Tickets are available to the match at trybooking.com.
7. Leadership Symposium
September 17, 9am-6pm
The Leadership and Risk Symposium, at Devonport, will feature internationally renowned risk experts along with top speakers from Tasmania and Australia. The one-day forum, organised by Tasmanian Leaders, will explore how to recognise and deal with major risks and also how to turn them into new opportunities.
