As recently as June 23 Ms Stanley had been met with a confronting cancer diagnosis, and she said the support offered to her by Cancer Council deserved to be celebrated by her participation in the run.
"I've recently had an experience of cancer and i found the Cancer Council support centre just to be amazing through the whole time, so it's my opportunity to give something back," she said.
"I doubt that my recovery would be going as well as it has [without Cancer Council's assistance], right from before surgery, throughout my hospital stay, and I honestly can't tell you how much they're supported me."
Ms Stanley and her running team had raised close to $2000 to add to the fundraiser.
Overall the event had seen more than 1200 registrations and $45,000 donated, prior to Tuesday's registration deadline.
Cancer Council Tasmania event coordinator Zoe Vandervelde said she hoped the $45,000 would be double by the time Sunday rolled around.
"We've got almost one week left and the last week is when people tend to get their fundraising into gear, so it's going to be really exciting come Sunday," she said.
Ms Vandervelde said 2021 was just the second year the organisation had made a point of fundraising for the event and looked forward to seeing the final figure for this year.
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive Penny Egan said the organisation was anticipating a successful event.
"The [event] is one of the most important community awareness events on our calendar. It enables us to educate Tasmanians about all cancers and how to lower their risk," she said.
"It also provides an aspirational jumping point for people to improve their health and fitness, to raise much needed funds for local cancer research and to bring the community together in a fun, family friendly and inclusive activity."
The event was set to be held at City Park and a COVID-19 safety plan had been devised to ensure accordance with public health measures. It would be the first major event back in City Park since the pandemic hit.
