With both having won the last grand finals they competed in - Lilydale (2019 in the NTFA) and Launceston (2020 in the TSLW) - their rivals predicted a case of history repeating itself on Windsor Park.
DIVISION ONE SENIORS
Margins ranging from 22 points to 56 were selected by the eight coaches not featuring in Saturday's big day but the common theme of Lilydale defeating Old Launcestonians prevailed.
"They've proven that they have the brand of footy it takes to win big games and have 22 players who are prepared to play and stick to their roles," Perth coach Danny Bennett said.

St Pats leader Jake Lowe added: "Lilydale have the best bottom six in the competition and have been a solid group for three to four years now."
While the coaches were unanimous in their selection of the victor, they couldn't come to a conclusion on who will take home the David O'Keefe Medal for best on ground.
Despite winning the award in 2019, Wil Lockhart wasn't the name on the coaches' lips, with Daniel Viney, Thane Bardenhagen and Louis Venn all receiving multiple votes.
Outside of those three, Logan Reynolds and Trent Griggs were rated among the favourites for the accolade, showing Lilydale's impressive depth.
WOMEN'S
The decision for who will take out the women's best on ground seemed more clear cut to the coaches, with several selecting Blues skipper Dearne Taylor.
Bridgenorth coach Bobby Beams was the outlier, selecting Georgia Hill as his pick for the medal.
Many of the coaches commented on OLs' stunning run to the grand final but agreed that Launceston would be too strong.
"OLs have had a fantastic last month winning elimination finals since their last roster game but overcoming the TSLW talent of Launceston will be too big of a handle this week," Beams said.
"Early goals will give OLs a chance but the top-end talent Launceston boast in every line will mean they step up in the big moments."
Hillwood's Dwayne Beeton and Scottsdale's Cabel Hall sang a similar tune.
"I think OLs have just as much depth as Launnie but Launceston A-grade players such as the Hill sisters, Taylor, [Meg] Sinclair and [Meg] Radford will be very hard to stop which should give Launnie the upper hand," Beeton said.
Hall added: "Launceston have simply too much class at both ends of the ground and have been the benchmark all year.
"Huge respect and admiration for what OLs have done to get to the grand final."
