Beginning their climb up from fifth, United produced an excellent performance against their fellow statewide league newcomers, claiming their goals through two reliable sources.
Jess Robinson headed an 18th-minute opener from Laura Dickinson's cross and although Strikers levelled through a headed goal of their own, top scorer Dani Gunton ensured the points would head back to Birch Avenue when her 79th-minute shot found its way into the net.
"We're delighted with the win," said United co-coach Frank Compton.
"We knew we would have to defend but on the break we always looked a threat which is very encouraging. We're keen to finish the season positively and today should breathe confidence into our approach for next week's final match against Olympia."
NPL Tasmania
It was a disappointing day for the Launceston teams in the NPL Tasmania as both lost 4-1.
A Will Humphrey free-kick gave RIVERSIDE an early lead at Olympia but Warriors equalised six minutes before the break when the luckless Max Reissig turned a dangerous cross into his own net.
The match hung in the balance until three home goals in the final 20 minutes.
It was a similar story at Prospect Park where LAUNCESTON CITY were holding Kingborough Lions at half-time.
Trailing early, City levelled in stoppage time when Dan Smith was upended and converted the resulting penalty.
However, goals in the 48th, 60th and 83rd minutes saw the visitors home.
The top two kept on winning as Devonport beat South Hobart 2-1 and Glenorchy Knights won 1-0 against Clarence Zebras.
NORTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP
RIVERSIDE had a morale-boosting 4-2 victory in the Women's Northern Championship at NORTHERN RANGERS.
The second-versus-third clash at the NTCA Ground went the way of the visitors courtesy of a hat-trick from Meg Connolly and a fourth goal from assistant coach Margaret White.
Moana Chamberlin and Abbie Chugg responded for Rangers.
Jo Haezebrouck praised White for her outstanding game and support throughout a challenging season.
"Giving up is not an option," he said.
"We controlled the game and were always dangerous going forward so deserved the victory."
Amelia Chilcott and an own goal saw LAUNCESTON UNITED cap off a tough three games in eight days, including two road trips, with a 2-0 win at Devonport.
LAUNCESTON CITY were no match for ladder-leader Ulverstone, going down 7-0.
Burnie United won 6-0 against Somerset.
In the men's competition, NORTHERN RANGERS were the only Launceston winners, beating RIVERSIDE 3-2 through goals from Angelo Amato, Bryley Jordan and Sam Wagner.
LAUNCESTON CITY lost 4-0 at home to Ulverstone and LAUNCESTON UNITED went down 2-0 at Devonport.
