Sunday's game between Melbourne powerhouse club Essendon and the Western Bulldogs sold out about 4pm, an hour before tickets were released to the general public.
The game between Sydney and Greater Western Sydney had sold out by 7.30pm in Monday night.
The tickets to both games sold out just more than 24 hours after it was announced the games would be played in Tasmania.
UTAS Stadium announced the sell-outs on social media to the disappointment of many keen footy followers, although the post offered a glimmer of hope for anyone who missed out.
"If any further tickets become available as a result of unused allocations, they will be released via Ticketmaster at 11am (local time), Thursday August 26," it read.
A spokesperson for the government confirmed late on Monday night the capacity for the games was set at 10,000 and all attendees were require to wear masks.
However, they said the government would continue to liaise with the Tasmanian public health team and that an increase to the capacity could be on the cards.
Unauthorised ticket sellers took advantage of the sell-out, with tickets being sold by vendors for prices significantly higher than those locked in by the AFL last week.
Ticketmaster remained the only ticket seller for the game authorised by the AFL.
