Speaking in question time Premier Peter Gutwein announced the Tasmanian government was working with the AFL to set up hubs in the state with the potential of a second week of finals being held on the island.
He said the government was working actively with the AFL to set up hubs in Tasmania which could result in a situation that would see the winners of this weekend's Launceston games stay in Tasmania.
Mr Gutwein said discussions with the AFL remained ongoing and that the availability of games would come down to results from the first week of finals and public health advice.
This weekend's matches between Sydney and Greater Western Sydney, and the Western Bulldogs and Essendon were well received by fans who snapped up all available tickets within hours.
UTAS Stadium was set for a 10,000 seat capacity for both games, though the state government continued to work with public health to consider an increase on the cap if deemed COVID-19 safe.
