IT IS with some disgust that we look at the Department of State Growth's most recent proposed plans for the upgrade of the Birralee Road.

Despite local concerns over the parlous state of the road, the phrase "goat track" has often been used.
The $24 million allocated to the project appears to only have resulted in sealing the shoulders of the road, ensuring that this Category two freight road still, after over 20 years, fails to meet both national and state road standards.

Where has the $24 million gone?
Is it possible it's been funneled off to the West Tamar to secure Bass?
Is this yet another case of the Liberal Party sacrificing the people of Lyons to serve their electoral interests in Bass?
And while the government urges more and more heavy vehicles to use this substandard route, it's the commuters, residents, school buses and farmers that all bear the cost.

I'M a Swans supporter and the prospect of seeing a derby final at UTAS Stadium this Saturday is good news, but wait, what's going on here?
The AFL had nowhere to go given the situation in other states, yet our government is allegedly to pay the AFL $1 million for these two matches.
That's $50 per person for the capped crowds allowed.
The demand for tickets has been huge so why aren't the fans paying this $50 in their ticket prices rather than the taxpayer? The AFL has played the government well on this.
While we are at it, the so-called sponsorship arrangement between TT Line and North Melbourne was always justified as a matter between the board and that club, as an arm's length arrangement. The Premier said last week that this North Melbourne arrangement and the one with Hawthorn may be cancelled if Tasmania doesn't get a pathway to its own team.
So in reality the government was always calling the shots on the North Melbourne deal. Shame on the TT board.

How can he now not be asked to leave parliament?

Congratulations to Mark for having the courage to talk about suffering two decades of suffering conversion practice.
Conversion practices are based on the irrational belief that LGBTIQA+ people are broken and can be fixed.
They cause deep damage because, when they inevitably don't work, the victim is blamed for the failure.
Victims suffer a downward spiral of self-hate, recrimination and despair which too often leads to depression, anxiety and suicide. By bearing witness to the cruelty of conversion practices Mark's story will save lives.
