The NTJFA have been made to move their finals fixtures after the AFL and state government announced Tasmania would host two elimination games this weekend.
The juniors had been scheduled to play their finals at UTAS Stadium but will make way for Tasmania's first-ever AFL finals.
NTJFA president Paul House confirmed that the league was planning to announce a contingency plan soon.
"Unfortunately, this means the NTJFA grand final scheduled for Invermay Park and UTAS will now be moved to a different venue," he said.
While stakeholders work to relocate the fixtures, parents and supporters took to social media to voice their concerns.
"Not fair for all the junior teams that have worked their butts off to make it to possibly their only or last grand final in youth or for life to be robbed of the opportunity to play on a big field and massive stadium," one commenter said.
"Heart-breaking for us all who have toughed it out all season."
"Not impressed that NTJFA have to work on a contingency plan, the ground was booked for our players ... let AFL play Monday night," another commenter said.
However, some parents backed the decision to enable finals footy to come to Launceston.
"I'm reading a lot of whining here. You know Tassie is pitching for an AFL team right? So your kids have to play elsewhere, who cares? The kids on the mainland haven't even had finals for two years, or even a season in 2020," a commenter said.
"Be happy your children are in a GF no matter where it's played, they won't care. Maybe take them to the AFL finals and show them what's possible in the future for a Tassie team."
City of Launceston Council mayor Albert van Zetten said the council would work with the league to make the necessary changes.
"The two games will mean that the weekend's local junior competition will have to be relocated but we will work with the clubs and the association to make sure those games go ahead," he said.
UTAS Stadium will host the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants at on Saturday, August 28 at 3:20pm.
The second final will see the Western Bulldogs play the Essendon Bombers on Sunday, August 29 at 3:20pm, also at UTAS stadium.
