Following the COVID-19 outbreaks in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Bluey's Big Play has cancelled three of its Princess Theatre shows - scheduled for August 13 and 14.

The show joins the likes of John Williamson, Human Nature, Eric Bogle, and the team from the APIA Good Times Tour as Australian acts that have had their tours disrupted.

Theatre North's programs manager Stuart Loone said he was feeling for the artists, production staff and audiences who were suffering from the cancellations.

"Despite it all, Theatre North and the Princess Theatre are holding up pretty well still," he said. "The live performance industry as a whole still has a long way to go before we can use the word 'recovered'."

For those who purchased tickets online for Bluey, refunds will automatically be provided in full over the next week.

Tickets purchased at the box office or over the phone will first be automatically credited to the patrons account. The box office is contactable from August 16 if the patron would like a full refund.

Alternatively, patrons can choose to keep the funds in the account and use them as credit for another show at the Princess Theatre. Contact does not need to be made for this option.

Other shows have also pulled out of the theatre's 2021 split season program due to the ever-changing nature of the pandemic. However, there are still shows to support.

"There are still plenty of shows on the books, including some exciting new hires and excellent local theatre," Mr Loone said.

"We're currently working on our 2022 season, which, all going well, will be better than ever."

New dates are being advertised for postponed shows, and Mr Loone urged ticketholders to constantly check the Theatre North website for updates.
