Leanne Morrison and David Morrison from DLM Machinery are partners in business and life but they will cast that aside when the Hawks and Pies do battle.

"I've got the dog house ready," he joked.

"It's been a long time, the first game for premiership points [in a while]."

The game marks the first time that the two sides have played in Tasmania for premiership points.

Ms Morrison is a passionate Hawks fan and her company is the player sponsor for Hawks players Jack Gunston and Harry Morrison.

As a player sponsor for the Hawks in Tasmania, she said it was a fun way to indulge her support of the club.

"They look after us really well, good bunch of people," she said.

Ms Morrison was quick as a flash to remember what inspired her love of the Hawks all those years ago.

"I've been supporting the Hawks since Peter Knights played," she said.

"Good question, it's a long-time ago, I can't really remember why I started supporting the Pies," he said.

The couple will be in attendance at this week's game at UTAS Stadium after the state government confirmed it would go ahead despite COVID-19 concerns on the mainland.

Outgoing Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson has supported the notion of more games in Tasmania, where the Hawks have garnered a passionate supporter base.

"If you can get a crowd down here, then I'm sure the AFL will continue to look to play some of their footy down on the island," he said previously.

The game continues a footy bonanza for Launceston which also hosted the Hawks and Brisbane game in the last round as the state helps the AFL negotiate the unpredictability of the coronavirus.

The match attendance is capped at 10,000 and masks mandatory for those over 12 years old due to COVID safe measures.

Tickets for Sunday's game will be released gradually on Wednesday morning to GA members at 9am, Collingwood members at 11am and the general public at 1pm.
