Police were called to the scene at Top Gawler Road about 10.50pm following a report that a Holden Commodore sedan had failed to follow a right-hand bend in the road.

The car then crashed head-on into a tree after verging off the road.

Police said the driver, who was the only person in the car, was flown to hospital in a serious condition.

They are currently investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash.
