Police allege the man went to the Empire Hotel on Orr Street around 2.25pm armed with a machete on Monday.
A police spokesperson said the man smashed 21 windows at the hotel.
"As the man left the scene he ignited several small firecrackers he had in his possession," the spokesperson said.
"The male walked to the Queenstown Police Station where he surrendered himself to police. He is continuing to assist police in their investigation into the incident.
"At no point were staff at the hotel or members of the public directly threatened by the male and no injuries were sustained during the incident."
The man has been charged with unlawfully destroying property, unlawfully using a dangerous article in a public place and letting off a firework.
He is due to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
