A Supreme Court jury in Launceston will begin to hear evidence on Tuesday in the trial of a man charged for lighting fires in the Fingal Valley in 2019.

Robert Peter Matthewson, 36, of Mangana pleaded not guilty to three counts of unlawfully set fire to vegetation on December 8, 2019, December 18, 2019 and December 30, 2019.
The Crown alleges Mr Matthewson set fire to bushland owned by Zachary John Mead.
The jury was sworn in and then the case adjourned until 11.30am on August 3.
A potential juror was discharged from service when he told Acting Justice Brain Martin that he had been a member of the fire services which fought one of the fires.
