Initial investigations showed the man from the area was travelling in his Toyota Hilux on his own when he lost control and crossed over the road before crashing into the tree.
The man was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition where he remained for five days before succumbing to injuries sustained in the crash.
The man's death came just two days after another road fatality was recorded in Tasmania when a man died in a serious crash on King Island.
A woman was seriously injured in the same crashed and remained in a critical condition at the RHH on Saturday.
The state's road toll now sits at 22 with a fatal crash being recorded on average every nine-and-a-half days.
