After Old Launcestonians' clash with Lilydale was given the boot on Thursday, the NTFA released a statement through social media on Friday advising that all division one matches had been cancelled due to ground closures.
NTFA president Scott Rigby said the decision was made after lengthy discussions with the competition's board and the clubs affected.
"On the background of having a really good year this year and we know how important footy is for people around the traps, obviously that discussion was very respectful," he said.
"Cancelling a game is not just about cancelling footy, there's a lot to take into account, so obviously those discussions that we had with the clubs were respectful and understanding and it was overwhelmingly supportive back from the clubs.
"We've had such a positive year and we want to continue that and obviously we are only a couple weeks away from finals so we know how important it is to continue to build towards what should be a fantastic finals series."
The Old Scotch and George Town women's game was also added to the cancellation list, joining Launceston and Old Launcestonians as NTFAW clashes not going ahead.
The women's round's other games - Meander Valley v Hillwood, Bridgenorth v South Launceston and Longford v Scottsdale - will all go ahead as well as the scheduled premier division matches.
Some members of the football community took to social media in response to the release, with several angry reactions flooding Facebook as the clubs distributed the message online.
Comments like "it's a winter sport", "Talk about a nanny world" and "get out there and play" were among the responses.
