Short of players early in the season, the Tigers are adding "one or two" recruits every week while getting game time into a group of consistent performers.
"The girls are fantastic - they've been really good competitive-wise, but they're all learning to play footy," Dodd said.
"We've probably only got three or four players that have played football before, so this year's a learning curve."

After a 170-point loss to flag fancy Launceston last round, things don't get any easier with a 1pm home game against Scottsdale.
Dodd praised his players for having a great attitude towards playing against more experienced sides.
"The girls learn something every week in the game from the other teams," he said.
"They are very competitive and they won't give up - they never give up, that's one thing about them."
Despite a 20-point loss to Old Scotch last week, Scottsdale remains favourite to finish in third spot.
The Magpies kept pace with the Thistles for three quarters before being blown away in the last term.
"It was probably a five-minute period where we let ourselves down defensively where they slammed on three quick goals," coach Cabel Hall said.
"But I loved the way we fought back after that. We think we can match it with the best teams this year now that we've played both Launny and Old Scotch who have been above us on the ladder."
The Magpies will regain Michaela Carins from a long-term injury, with gun forward Georgie Dare and former Cavaliers netballer Lucy Dennis also returning.
Hall said Dennis, who is the younger sister of his wife and Magpies captain Alex, had showed plenty of promise in her first season.
"Since she played her first game about a month ago she's just absolutely loved it.
"She'll need to play the next two in a row to qualify for finals which we hope she can do, but she's really talented and has added a lot of flexibility to our team."

EVANDALE - BYE
Andrew Boyd's Eagles join Deloraine on the sidelines after playing out a two-point nail-biter last round.
Boyd said while it had been disappointing to lose, Deloraine's first-ever win had been a "good news story" for the competition.
"We had some good players," Boyd said.
"I know the result didn't go our way, but we've been working on some things during training and what I saw in the way of the game and what the girls were trying to do out on the ground ... that was the most they've adapted to that sort of play we're trying to do so that a positive sign."
BRIDGENORTH V SOUTH LAUNCESTON
The game of the round will have huge implications for finals, with the loser a chance to drop out of the top five.
Both sides have won two on the trot, with Bridgenorth searching for a maiden win over South, who comfortably won both 2019 clashes.
"It's a big game - every game is with the standard of the comp," Parrots coach Bobby Beams said of his side's 11.05am home fixture.
"It looks like its going to be a pretty wet day looking at the forecast - we've had a couple of wet games and we go ok in the wet so we're really excited and looking forward to the challenge."
MEANDER VALLEY V HILLWOOD
The Suns will face another finals hopeful in Hillwood following a seven-goal loss to South Launceston.
Coach Scott Bellinger said his side was building something special for the future.
"It's really exciting to see the development of our players and coming up against a team like South is such a good learning," he said.
"From a club perspective we're exceptionally proud of our playing group, of the culture and of our planning for next year.
"Our key experienced players in Meg [Wilkinson], Sophie [Townsend], Montanna [Eastley] continue to shine week in, week out.
"And a couple of our first year players that are just going from strength to strength are people like Des [Austerberry], Abbey [Bellchambers], Caitlin [McLachlan], Brie [Bowen] just to name a few - to see their improvement is really exciting for the future of our club."
OLs V LAUNCESTON
Launceston is set to wear its pink guernseys for the season's remainder, avoiding a potential kit clash with their Blues counterparts.
Coach Mikayla Binns was happy to meet two top-eight sides before finals after conceding just two points in the past three rounds.
"Georgia Hill had a really good game [against Longford] - she's been really strong in the midfield and has been able to play in the ruck," Binns said.
"Mon Dufty had a really good game as well and Emma White who hasn't played before [this year] had a really good game."
OLD SCOTCH V GEORGE TOWN
In the third 10.30am game, George Town begins its daunting run home - Old Scotch this week and Launceston the next.
The Thistles will play for the first time since having midfielder Ella Maurer drafted to the AFLW.
