CALLING TASMANIA HOME
IN the wake of Ariarne Titmus's wonderful Olympic victory in the 400 metre freestyle swimming event, we've considered the question of whether Titmus is Tasmanian, a Queenslander, a dual citizen or possibly Australian?

It was very pleasing to see, amongst the televised euphoric Titmus family gathering at Noosa, a former swimming gold medallist at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Dawn Fraser.
Titmus is the first Australian woman to win the 400m freestyle swimming gold medal since Shane Gould's victory at the 1972 Munich Olympics, and now calls Tasmania home.

KEEPING CATS INDOORS
I have a comment regarding the people who want to keep cats inside.
No animal should be inside on a permanent basis, it is cruel and totally against nature.
My cat has brought me home and a few gifts including five rats, two or three mice and two birds.

One of which promptly flew around the house until it found an exit - this was over a seven-year period.
However, here is another view to mull over.
Our planet has been around for about 4.5 billion years and has survived many catastrophes, all without human help.
Why are we so arrogant that we think we need to save it?
We weren't around before, and I expect we won't be around after.

EXPLORING OUR WORLD
IT is time for us to take a step to change for the better.
Humans need to take journeys to adventure through our lives.
Exploring this world is a basic right to every living being.
This opportunity is a way to actually give that chance to many who haven't left their homes, let alone cities since the pandemic.
Mother Earth has had the break she's needed for centuries, and now it's time for us to re-join her land.

NEW PARKING METERS
TO the City of Launceston Council. If you had the new parking meters installed, and your intention was to alienate and drive away people from the city centre - congratulations you have succeeded way beyond your wildest dreams.
I have witnessed a number of people struggling with and then just walking away in total bewilderment from the meters.
If losing money was another intention, then you've won again.
Wow, how good is that?

LOCKDOWNS ARE NECESSARY
OBVIOUSLY those idiots protesting against COVID-19 lockdowns and vaccinations on the mainland cannot read and don't watch media reports.
Otherwise, they would be aware of what is happening here in Australia and many other countries around the world with this Delta variant of COVID.
It is far deadlier in its spread than other strains and affects all ages, yet they gather in their thousands and run the risk of contracting it and passing it on to their family, friends and the wider community.
A prime case of how deadly it is is the case of the furniture removalists who not only spread it around several states but also to their mother who has since died from COVID.
Lockdowns are a necessary evil to get this virus under control yet there are some who flaunt the restrictions in place, thereby making the risk of lockdown extensions a real threat.
The wider community is doing the right thing, yet there are some who feel that obeying lockdown requirements is a joke.
Those people should be hit with far greater penalties than what they are receiving now, monetary and maybe home confinement.

REACHING BREAKING POINT
NOBODY could justify the protests that occurred in Sydney on the weekend.
They were selfish, terribly irresponsible and will most likely put lives at risk.
But the question must be asked. How many people at these protests are under such stress and strain to pay their rent or afford to survive right now?
The Morrison Liberal government withdrew JobKeeper payments too early and now people are struggling financially to make ends meet.
Bills keep coming in, rent is due and mortgage repayments need to be made and yet the government is saying to Australians: "you are on your own".
If you are told you can't work by your government, but you need to work to survive, you are going to be stressed and angry at your circumstances.
Australian's deserve to be told what the plan is. But there is silence from their government.
Surely the government's number one priority is to roll out the vaccine to as many people as possible as quickly as possible so the lockdowns finally end.
Lockdown protests are not the answer, but families are reaching breaking point and they are desperately in need of leadership from their Prime Minister.
