UTAS Stadium could be in line to host a heavyweight Victorian AFL club for the second time in five weeks after a sell-out crowd of 14,734 witnessed Essendon's first Tasmanian visit in round 14.
AFL.com.au is reporting that Hawthorn could ask to shift its round 21 Collingwood clash from the MCG to Launceston, meaning the ground would host AFL games in three consecutive weeks.
The news comes after the Victorian government announced that crowds would not be permitted at AFL games for at least the next two weeks as the state looks to snuff out COVID from within its borders.
Already set to meet Western Bulldogs in Tasmania round 22, Hawthorn had this weekend's clash with Brisbane moved to Launceston when the AFL announced its updated fixture list on Monday.
Collingwood visited Tasmania for a pre-season game in 2015 - downing the Hawks by 44 points - but have never played for premiership points in the Apple Isle.
