One of the drivers, who wanted to remain anonymous, said an incident left 11 people including two diabetics, stuck on Haulage Road in icy and cold conditions while they waited into the early hours of Monday morning to be rescued.
She explained how the icy roads played a part in the incident.
"It had come to a complete dead stop and we were basically right on the slant of the hill and we knew once we stopped that something was going to happen," she said.
"A red LandCruiser took off ... and the D-Max in front of us, the wheels just started spinning and he went straight into the front of our car and pushed our car 200 metres down the hill."
They managed to stop the vehicle only to find other cars had been damaged trying to avoid the incident.
The road conditions were described as an "ice-skating rink" as the group lit a fire to stay warm while they waited for police.
The victim explained few residents came out to offer any help as emergency services struggled to reach the group due to the conditions which required extra gear.
By 10pm, when the group had been out on the road for six hours, the group needed to help the firefighters avoid getting their vehicle in a ditch.
Firefighters piled the group into vehicles and began the slow descent back down, hampered by the icy road conditions.

The group was dropped off at the Great Lake Hotel where they had to pay for the remaining spare rooms to stay overnight.
With the help of some friends, eight of the group returned to Haulage Road to retrieve their cars later on Monday before returning home.
"We all followed each other and made sure we got back down the Great Lake Highway OK and that everyone was all good."
