The opening batsman got in touch with Greg Shipperd, who has come on board as a coaching consultant while Ali De Winter performs interim coaching duties, and the rest is now history.

"He's certainly someone I thought of instantly when we needed to fill that role and I thought if we were going down the path of an interim, that Greg would probably be a perfect fit for that," Silk said earlier this week.

"He's obviously going to bring a lot of success with him, I've played under him for a couple of years now at the Sixers and won a few titles there, so it's invaluable to bring someone like that in with that experience.

"With this group, we talk about trying to win titles now, to get someone like that in and try and harness that and bring that out of us is really exciting."

Silk said while the upcoming changes haven't sunk in yet, they won't be too much of a distraction going forward given the amount of senior players in the set-up.

"You only have to look at the way we were able to finish off last season and the season before, we finish seasons really well so we get a lot of belief at the end of seasons that we are capable of going on and pushing for titles.

"I think we are right in a window at the moment to be doing that, so it's great that Ali and Greg are on board but a lot of the work will be done by the senior players through this period to manage the expectations of the younger players and what's required during this period."
