This year the event will be held both in real-time and virtually.
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive Penny Egan said the Women's 5K was one of the most important community awareness events on the Cancer Council calendar.
"It enables us to educate Tasmanians about all cancers and how to lower their risk," she said.
"It also provides an aspirational jumping point for people to improve their health and fitness, to raise ... funds for local cancer research and to bring the community together."
Danielle Bywaters, a participant and supporter of the event, said cancer would not discriminate.
"Someone who is really healthy, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink can still get cancer," she said.
The Women's 5K real-time event will be held on September 12, and will start at Launceston's City Park. Registrations are now open at womens5k.org.au/home.
