On the same day embattled former mining minister Adam Brooks appeared in a Queensland court on nine separate criminal charges, Tasmania Police announced they have dropped a case against him.

On Wednesday, police announced they had reviewed a case file relating to a North-West man's alleged firearms act offences from April 1 and would not be pursuing the matter.
"Following the review legal advice was that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction," a Tasmania Police spokesperson.
"The person in question has been formally notified of the outcome.
"There will be no further police action in relation to this matter."
It was understood the statement relates to allegations against Mr Brooks, but police would not confirm this.
Mr Brooks appeared in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court in Queensland on Wednesday charged with possession of tainted property, breaches of bail, unlawful possession of a weapon and dealing with identity documents.
No pleas were entered on any of the charges and the matter was again adjourned until July 8.
