An elderly man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked two women in his Zeehan home on Saturday.

The 82-year-old, who has been under police guard in hospital since the attack, was charged overnight.
The victims - a 64-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman - received wounds to their head, face and arms at the Counsel Street home.
The man also suffered self-inflicted injuries.

He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
