After the Hawks lost captain and key attacker Danni Pickett to a ruptured Achilles, the side quickly made moves to acquire Treloar - a former Cavalier.
"Kellie [Woolnough, Hawks coach] rang me the Tuesday after Danni's injury to offer me a spot," the 19-year-old said.
"I saw it as a great opportunity, I couldn't really say no to it."
Treloar played for the Cavs 19-and-under team during its 2020 premiership season, winning finals MVP in the process.
She was offered a role as a training partner in the Cavs opens, but Treloar said other commitments prevented her from joining the side for 2021.
As for swapping the black and green for the gold and brown, she said the transition so far had been a good one.
"Obviously, there's a bit of a rivalry between the two clubs, but everyone's been pretty great," Treloar said.
"I couldn't ask for any more support - it's been really nice."
The Launceston-based netballer wasn't shy about the gravity of her newfound position at Hawks' goal attack, knowing premiership expectations remain with the team despite the loss of Pickett.
"[I've got] big shoes to try and fill, but Kendall Jones has really stepped up a lot as well," Treloar said.
"It's quite easy to work with her and obviously Ash [Mawer, Hawks shooter] it's making it a lot easier to slot in there.
"They're [Hawks] trying to qualify me for finals ... they said to me at training that it's not a sprint, it's a marathon to get to the end and see how we go."
As for trading uniforms, Treloar's grown to like her new Hawks-themed outfit.
"I never used to like the Hawks uniform, I didn't like the colours," she said.
"It was a bit strange at first, but it feels good now."
