The mother of a woman police say was stabbed to death at Ulverstone this week is hoping to raise $50,000 for the alleged victim's child.

Heidi Marshall, Gabrielle Marshall's mother, created a fundraiser on Facebook on Wednesday for her six-year-old granddaughter.

"Our beautiful girl was taken away from us so suddenly," she wrote.
"We would like to fundraise for her daughter who is six-years-old and will have to grow up with out her mother.
"Any small amount would be appreciated."
Tasmania Police confirmed on Wednesday night a 35-year-old Ulverstone man had been charged with murder.
In a Facebook tribute to her daughter, Mrs Marshall wrote that Gabrielle was in a good place in Tasmania and phoned her daughter each night.
"You will be forever loved my sweet girl and missed so much," she said.
"We will take good care of your daughter. We will bring you home."
