Running only six months after the delayed 2020 edition, the event attracted more than 1400 entrants from Tasmania and interstate.

Two of those entrants were Arden Eccles, age 13, and sister Ava Eccles, age 12.

Entered into the 10km, the keen runners have been running for years and were excited to be taking part.

"We've been running for quite a bit, we really like it," Arden said.

"It's good for exercise and good to get out," Ava added.

The Eccles family are all keen runners - taking part in their local Parkrun regularly, having done 1000 as a family.

Mum Helene said she was incredibly proud of Arden and Ava for taking part.

"I love that its something we can do together and it gives them confidence, keeps them healthy - 10km is a long distance, I never would have done it at their age," she said.

In between races, participants and those on the sidelines were entertained by a flashmob dance performance, put together by Kim Roe School of Dance.

Among those taking part were Charli Allen, age 7 of West Launceston, who said she loved getting to surprise everyone around who weren't expecting the performance.

"We didn't practice for very long ... maybe two weeks," she said.

"The best part was for once getting to dance with the big girls and I like doing that.

"It was very cool."

Mr Walsh said with weather conditions good, albeit foggy, there were a rush of late entrants.

He said the border restrictions on Victorian entrants was disappointing, but understandable.

"We still had a great turnout with the athletes we did have," he said.

"In this day and age where 67 per cent of Tasmanians are overweight or obese events like this are really important.

"The average age of participants was 41 - we've got 52 per cent men and 48 per cent women doing the event which is a bit unusual, usually running events are skewed towards more men."
