After missing out on last year's national and rookie drafts and being overlooked for Hawthorn's last list spot in pre-season, Callow found his way onto the Hawks' list with pick 17 of Wednesday night's mid-season draft.
The ex-Prospect junior joins Tarryn Thomas (North Melbourne), Jay Lockhart (Melbourne) and Rhyan Mansell (Richmond) as premiership Bombers drafted to the AFL in the past three years.
Thomas was the only one of the quartet to win a list spot via the national draft pathway.

"I was super happy for him," Cox-Goodyer said.
"He was obviously pretty disappointed and pretty stiff in my opinion to miss out in the draft last year.
"He went away, put the work in and got himself super fit - spent a couple of weeks at Hawthorn where he ended up, so he made a pretty good impression but obviously missed out as a pre-season supplementary pick.
"I think he leads the league [SANFL] in contested marks so for an 18-year-old to be doing that against seasoned men and ex-AFL players just shows what he's able to do.
"He fully deserves it and hopefully he continues to work hard because that's what has got him to where he is now."
Set to turn 19 next week, Callow was set to spend Thursday making the eight-hour drive from Adelaide to Melbourne.
"He's pretty close with his family and his girlfriend's still down here and whatnot, so he took a big risk moving over there to follow his dream and now he's achieved it," Cox-Goodyer said.
"He moves a bit closer to home now so that'll make it easier for his family to get over and see him.
"Hopefully he can play a game in Tasmania this year which would be super, but he understands the hard work starts again for him."
Debuting in the TSL as a 17-year-old, Callow kicked three goals to be one of North's best in the 2019 grand final win over Lauderdale - his fourth senior game.
An ankle injury kept him to nine games in 2020 before he joined fellow Tasmanian Jade Rawlings at SANFL outfit Norwood.
