Approximately forty students from the North-West were invited to attend a workshop in Launceston.
The students were all enrolled in the Department's Gifted Online program and this was the first opportunity for students to come together and meet each other as well as their online teachers.
Incredibly, of these forty gifted students, three hail from the same class at Flinders Island District High School.

Heidi John, Magnus McIntosh and Pippa Hunt all travelled on a small aircraft from Flinders Island to Launceston especially for the event and to meet their online teacher, Wendy Fletcher.
With a population of approximately nine hundred people, Flinders Island is an incredibly remote community.
Jenny Stewart is Magnus' mother and has been "thrilled" at Flinders Island District High School's support of her academically gifted son.
"Any child is supported by the community, they find the gift in every person. We're all very supportive, especially of our 'Island Kids'" Ms Stewart said
