Magistrate Sharon Cure did not sentence on Tuesday but gave a sentencing indication to Sammual Clinton Wilmot that he would receive 12-months' jail with six months suspended.
Wilmot was facing an application for three breaches of suspended jail sentences and several new charges including breach of bail.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Defence counsel Olivia Jenkins submitted that it would be unjust to activate all three sentences.
She said there was no indication of when the Supreme Court trial would be held.
Wilmot has pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm at Waverley in January 2018 and was on bail until arrested on April 23.
He faced activation of a six-week sentence, a three-month suspended sentence and a five-month suspended sentence and new matters including a serious unprovoked assault in Charles Street, Launceston, at 11.30am.
Police prosecutor Mike Bonde said that it was a serious assault and that his breach of bail failures were a continuing contempt of the court and court processes.
Last week the court heard that police were conducting a bail check at 4.46am on November 17 last year when they saw Wilmot riding a bicycle.
"He dropped the bicycle and ran off and police chased him through yards for about 800 metres before taking him into custody," she said.
A search of a backpack found ice pipes, tablets, a container of testosterone and a bowie knife. He threatened police saying his brother was known for shooting people.
Wilmot also pleaded guilty to a common assault in March last year outside Red Herring in Launceston at 11.30am. He punched and kicked a man in the head.
He pleaded guilty to a total of 30 counts of breaching bail.
Ms Woodgate said a car was entered on April 23 and $200 cash and bankcards stolen from the glove box.
Wilmot was captured on CCTV at 6.25 am using the stolen bankcard to buy items worth $58.40.
He used the stolen card to buy $45.80 worth of items at Ravenswood.
Ms Cure adjourned sentencing until June 17 at 11.30am.
