Alex Lee was adjudged best on ground in North's 20-point win over North Hobart but Cox-Goodyer's performance, which included a couple of goals, was enough to see him emerge from the award's chasing pack as he crept up to six votes for the season.
Mitch Thorp's reigning premiers had the bye at the weekend but dominate the standings through Jake Hinds (12 votes), Jay Blackberry (seven) and goal-kicking king Dylan Riley (among a handful of players on five) while Cox-Goodyer's teammate Jay Foon sits second on 10.
