The Bulldog legend said on Fox Footy on Saturday that former Northern Bomber star Callow had been "absolutely dominating" his stint with SANFL side the Norwood Redlegs.
"I'd be taking Jackson Callow - the boy from Tassie," Johnson said.
"He had a preseason with Hawthorn, he played well in their trial game, [he] kicked goals on [Sam] Frost.
"[He] was looked over in their selection coming into the season ... I would seriously be taking Jackson Callow with the first pick."
In eight games, Callow has 11 goals and 103 disposals with the Redlegs.
Callow has reportedly met with Collingwood on the weekend, who have two selections in the June 2 draft.
If selected by the Pies, Callow could line up with fellow Tasmanian Brody Mihocek.
