Absent since last year's grand final, Bomber Fletcher Bennett will make his comeback through the development league on Friday after missing all of the season to date.

At Launceston, 2020 TSL team of the year defender Jacob Boyd will be given until after the round nine bye to recover from a knee injury sustained against Kingborough, which proved more serious than first thought.

"It just hasn't settled as quick as we would have liked - he's a really important player to the footy club so we're not going to rush him back," Launceston coach Mitch Thorp said.

"He's a critical cog in our back seven, so we have missed him, but the boys have done a good job filling the void."

The Blues will finally begin to unveil their best 22 after the bye with Thorp set to play his first game of the season, Fletcher Seymour to return from injury and captain Jobi Harper expected back from firefighting training.

North Launceston midfielder Dan Withers, who was enjoying a stellar start to the season before injuring his lower leg in the loss to Clarence, is hopeful of returning towards the end of the year.
