After putting North Hobart to the sword last week, the Magpies went goalless until the 12-minute mark of the third term when Adam Roberts finished as the last chain in some smooth link-up play.

By that stage the Bombers had already reached 10.14 (74) and had it not been for wasteful kicking, the margin could have already been in three figures.

Coach Brad Cox-Goodyer, who could have finished with more than his three goals on another day, was happy to secure another win but eager to keep improving.

"We're very happy to be 4-2 after the first set of games - it's definitely ahead of where I thought we'd be," he said after the 16.23 (119) to 5.4 (34) win.

"It was pleasing to get the result but an issue continues with our goalkicking.

"I was the main culprit today - I reckon I kicked seven points and I think we kicked 23 points in the end ... it's probably not going to stand up if we continue doing that, especially against your Launcestons and Clarences.

"I reckon I'll make a call to Jay Schulz this week and get him down to take the boys through some goalkicking, but it's one of those things where potentially it's going to take time."

While the hosts struggled make free-flowing forward attacks, the Bombers were both direct and dominant at the stoppage.

Ollie Sanders racked up a huge possession count playing on the ball and slotted a goal from outside 50 in the second term, while Billy Edmunds produced the play of the day with a Nick Riewoldt-like pack mark running back with the flight.

Jay Foon and Jack Avent were also prominent in the midfield and looked potent up forward, where Tom Bennett and Zach Burt dominated in the air with several contested marks each.

Cox-Goodyer praised Alex Lee's job in the ruck against James Deegan - "when he's on top our mids walk an extra step taller" - and was thrilled to see his side's 10^th debutant of 2021, Harvey Griffiths, hit the scoresheet in the last term.

"You couldn't wipe the smile off his face and it was a really good moment for the footy club.

"It just shows that togetherness for a new guy in our program to come in and make good relationships straight away ... to kick a goal in his first game was really positive."

Sitting second after the first block of games, North will host Launceston in another night game on Friday.

A last-term blowout took the margin from 12 points to 55 when the two sides met in round one.

"It's a massive game," Cox-Goodyer said.

"They're undefeated and they're smashing sides so we know the challenge ahead of us, but we're going in with no pressure on our backs.

"We've just got to understand that our best footy is good enough, it's just about doing it over four quarters.

"At the moment we're just going in and out of games - we're dominating patches and then slowing down. It's going to happen with a young group - we ran out with nine teenagers in the side again.

"The more they play, the better the results are going to be."
