A homemade explosive device and $86,000 worth of cash are among the latest items seized by a Northern taskforce targeting illegal guns.

On Monday the Launceston Firearms Taskforce carried out a search warrant at a South Launceston address.
Here, police found and seized three pistols, one improvised homemade explosive device and over 1000 rounds of ammunition.
A trafficable quantity methylamphetamine and another drug, believed to be speed, was also found, along with $86,000 in cash.

On Wednesday, a 27-year-old South Launceston man was arrested and charged with a string of offences, including:
- Possess a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence
- Possess ammunition when the holder of a licence
- Trafficking in a controlled substance
- Possess controlled drug
- Dealing with proceeds of crime
The man has been bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on June 16.
Investigations are continuing and police say they have not ruled out further arrests.
