During his opening address on Tuesday, Director of Public Prosecutions Daryl Coates SC said it was alleged Jack Sadler shot Mr Anderson-Brettner three times with a pistol at Riverside in 2018.

Mr Sadler has pleaded not guilty.

Mr Coates said the accused and his alleged victim were acquaintances who had a falling out.

Detailing the alleged murder, he told the jury Mr Sadler had covered the walls of a room in his house with plastic, and said the torso of Mr Anderson-Brettner had been put in a mattress protector and dumped on the Sideling.

Mr Coates compared the method with a rap song - Dead Body Disposal.

Defence counsel Greg Richardson said there was no dispute that Mr Sadler was involved in the disposal of Mr Anderson-Brettner's body after his death.

"The issue is 'did Jack Sadler kill Mr Anderson-Brettner'," he said.

Mr Richardson urged the jury to leave emotion out of it and to wait to hear all the evidence before making up their mind.

He said it was a circumstantial case and that Justice Robert Pearce would give directions about circumstantial cases at the end of the trial.

"It is essential that you wait until the end," he said.

The trial will continue on Wednesday.
