The report is being prepared by council workers in response to a motion from earlier this year after councillor Andrea Dawkins motion asked for investigation of the two roads.

In February, Trevallyn residents raised safety concerns to council about the number of crashes, scrapes or near misses they had seen by cars outside their homes.

Cr Dawkins motion to investigate potential measures to calm the traffic situation on the two aforementioned roads was supported at a council meeting in February.

City of Launceston Council chief executive Michael Stretton said the report was being currently being prepared and would be presented for consideration by councillors.

"Officers are currently finalising a report in response to the motion, which is expected to be presented for further Council consideration in coming months."

Mr Stretton said the report would consider multiple options to improve pedestrian safety in the area.

"The motion asked officers to investigate options including speed reduction, physical barriers to speeding like speed humps and roundabouts, as well as safe pedestrian crossings on Trevallyn and Gorge Roads," he said.
