
The state men's and women's golf croquet singles tournament was held at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre with a capacity of entrants.
The final round of the three-day event was played with Philip Roach, of Kingston, on 10 games having to hold the lead from North Esk's Rod Tait on nine.
Roach lost his final game and Tait won to even the game score although Roach won overall with five net hoops.
Women's winner Ruth McKean, of North Esk, won 11 games. Yvonne Shaw (Sandy Bay) and Patsy Paine (Latrobe) won nine each with Shaw securing second with only two net hoops. Joan Williams, of St Leonards, also scored nine wins.
Both events were played with good placement, great clears and jumps. First time entrants are to be are commended for entering the event as a learning curve
The state annual meeting is scheduled to be held at the Grange, Campbell Town, on Wednesday, May 5, at 10.30am.
