With 57.8 per cent of the vote counted for the electorate by the end of Saturday night, it looked likely the Liberals would get two seats, Labor and the Greens would retain one each, and an independent would be elected.

Elise Archer easily won back her seat with 5732 votes at the close of the count and the Liberals were on the path towards two quotes.

This means there will be a battle between party candidates Simon Behrakis and Madeleine Ogilvie for a place in Parliament.

Both ran in the 2018 campaign but failed to get elected.

Ms Ogilvie was later elected on a recount when Labor's Scott Bacon resigned.

A former Labor parliamentarian and later an independent, Ms Ogilvie could benefit in the race for the second Liberal seat through preferences outside the Liberal ticket.

The Greens pulled over a quota of 1.28 which resulted in the re-election of party leader Cassy O'Connor.

Labor won a quota of 1.35 which most likely means the party will just keep one seat in the electorate for Ella Haddad.

She had polled 5420 votes at the close of the count, followed by fellow candidate Simon Davis with 1297 votes.

Labor Party state president Ben McGregor had been a candidate for Clark at the start of the campaign.

He was asked to withdraw from the race by Labor leader Rebecca White after she was referred to inappropriate comments he had directed at a woman in a group chat some years ago.

There are two likely scenarios for the two leading independent candidates in Clark Kristie Johnston and Sue Hickey.

At the close of the count on Saturday night, Ms Johnston led Ms Hickey 5121 votes to 4294.

If the Liberals fail to boost their votes to two quotas in enough time during the cut-up of preferences, votes could flow towards the independent candidates and ensure both women are elected.

Five independents ran in Clark this election.

The other candidates were City of Hobart councillors Jax Ewin and Mike Dutta as well as marine scientist Lisa Gershwin.

In 2018, the Liberals won 24,580 votes in the electorate, Labor won 27,284 votes, and the Greens won 11,428 votes.

Mr Bacon topped the poll for the electorate that year with 11,798 first-preference votes.
