IN OTHER NEWS:
"Unfortunately, in this case, a number of cattle needed to be euthanased by Tasmania Police."
A Tasmania Police spokesman was unable to say how many cattle were euthanased because the officers involved would not be back on shift until 11pm today.
The TasRail spokeswoman said the train was not derailed as a result of the incident and no TasRail staff were injured.
"Following our protocols the rail regulator has been notified," she said.
"Some services have been delayed today, but it is anticipated that modified services will resume later today, with the aim of scheduling some extra services tomorrow to ensure that customer operations remain unaffected."
