Tales from the club's golden era where they won nine Esk Football Association premierships from 1956-1965 will come thick and fast, with club legends like Barney Ross - a member for more than 60 years - remembering the good times.

Although his playing days were limited, Ross remembers the 1963 grand final victory against Poatina with gusto.

"Poatina was in full swing building the hydro station so anyone who could play football got a job on the hydro," he said.

"They went through the season undefeated and we played them at Longford in the grand final and we beat them by a point.

"It's probably one of the greatest victories this club's ever had."

Maurice Jordan was best on ground in the grand final win, and was rewarded with a one-pound note, which he still has to this day.

Describing the small town's success over the years as "remarkable", Jordan credited it to the behind-the-scenes work.

"I was a member of five of the nine premierships ... I think it comes down to our administration, we've got some wonderful people who have been involved," Jordan said.

"Since I started in 1957, I don't reckon I've missed 10 games in all these years and I'll be right there on Saturday."

Saturday's contest will be made even better by the fact they are playing Longford, arguably the club's biggest modern-day rival.

Having played in plenty of fiery clashes, 500-gamer Mathew Bosworth reflected on the rivalry's history.

"We joined the NTFA in '98 and since we've joined there there's been some close battles and some fierce ones too," Bosworth said.

"We all grew up around the same area and I suppose Bracknell coming into the NTFA put a bit of sting into Longford, and Bracknell were pretty successful from the first year we came in - we haven't missed many finals since our induction in '98.

"Everyone's good mates off the field, same as we are with other teams, but once you cross that line it's game on."
