St Patricks will be the first school in Northern Tasmania to display their talents on the Princess Theatre since it opened back up to allow for 75 per cent capacity.
After weeks of practice and preparation, including a summer intensive workshop and weekend practices, director Mallory Schipper said 130 students involved were ready for their curtain call.
"They love it, they absolutely love it, I think being here in the Princess Theatre is a great experience for them, a lot of them have never performed on this stage before so it is a great opportunity," she said.
"It's nerve-wracking but we're really excited to be in this venue and able to perform to the community."
High School Musical film series became a worldwide hit and the recently released TV show of the same name has gone on to similar acclaim.
Ms Schipper said audiences could expect all the songs they know and love as well as a slight update thanks to the Disney series.
"This version definitely sticks to the original, however, we are trying a little contemporary version in there," she said.
"Obviously the Disney High School Musical TV series is quite popular so we've based it around that in parts but it is very true to the original."
Cast member Ella Millwood said she was excited to partake in her first show as part of the main cast after being part of the ensemble in previous productions.
"This is my first lead role, I've been part of the ensemble in previous productions but this is my first lead ... [it's] very exciting but also very nerve-wracking," she said.
"We didn't think at the start of the year we were going to be able to perform [at the Princess Theatre] so we're very blessed and very fortunate."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Millwood said that the weeks spent practicing together had built a wonderful bond of friendship and comradery between the cast.
"It's been amazing, so full on but so amazing, I was saying the other day it's funny if we don't see each other three times a week because it's become our life but we love it," she said.
"I think we've all just grown a bond which is so special."
